Jincheon, located in the middle of North Chungcheong Province, is bordered by Mt. Goi on the east, Cheonan of South Chungcheong Province on the west, Cheongwon on the south, and Anseong of Gyonggi Province on the north. The total area of Jincheon is 405.98§´, which is corresponding to 5.46% of the gross area of North Chungcheong Province (7,431.44§´). Within the total dimension, forestland occupies 236.99§´ (58.38%), farmland area 101.99§´ (25.12%) and the rest counts for 67§´ (16.5%).

The southwestern part of this area is mountainous, because the Charyeong range traverses it from the north to the south. Its northeastern part forms a fertile granary because the Mihocheon stream, (the upper reaches of the Gumgang River), starts from Mansung County and Baekkok County and runs through the wide plains in the south.
The climate in Jincheon has four distinct seasons. Its geographical features help show its distinctive climate. Annual precipitation amounts to 1,427.2mm, which is accounting for 87.6% of it rains between June and October. About 97 days a year are sunny and 11 days a year are foggy.

Jincheon is connected to large cities by the Jungbu and Dongseo expressways. Travel by Jungbu Expressway takes only 1 hour from Seoul to Jincheon and about 30 minutes from Daejeon to Jincheon. With such convenient transportation, County has many advantageous conditions as a center of industries and has great potential for development.

Through the relocation of central functions toward provincial cities and cooperation among industry, academy, research institution and government, in 2012, Jincheon in collaboration with nearby Eumseong will be reborn as a futuristic innovation city with IT Techno-polis of & BT Industry along with the Ochang Science Complex by fostering IT policies and human Resources. In order to develop into the innovative center of the central Korean Peninsula in the 21st century, Jincheon has been developing an urban infrastructure in construction, transportation, medicine, and sports fostering manpower in an improved educational environment, and revitalizing the local agriculture and economy for balanced development and prosperity in both industry and agriculture.

As of December, 2005, the number of companies registered in Jincheon was 2,249 with 9,049 employees. In 2006 alone, Jincheon¡¯s trade volume amounted to US$1,595Million with US$753 Million in export and US$842 Million in imports.

Due to the abundant products, people's mind was naturally gentle. Indeed Jincheon was called a pleasurable town to live in. Under these favorable conditions, Jincheon has many local attractions such as the flavorful Jincheon rice, aquarium fish so lovely, they look like works of art, and highly colorful, sweet-smelling roses.

Furthermore, Jincheon is abundant in cultural heritages and natural tourist destinations such as Mt. Manrae, Mt. Doota, and Baekok reservoir.
